Exodus 2:1-10

  • What was Moses’ mother’s name? (Jachobed “yah-ho-bed”)

  • Why did she hide him? (Because Pharaoh had ordered all Hebrew sons to be thrown into the Nile)

  • What did Moses’ mother do with him when she couldn’t hide him anymore? (Put him in a basket that floated and had his sister watch him)

  • Who found baby Moses? (Pharaoh’s daughter)

  • What does “Moses” mean?  (One who draws out) 

  • Why did Pharaoh’s daughter name him Moses? (Because she drew him out of water)

  • What did God tell Moses to do and why? (Take off his shoes because he was standing on Holy Ground)

  • Where did God tell Moses to go and why? (Egypt to ask Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery)

  • What scared the Israelites when they got to the Red Sea? (Pharaoh and his army came after them.)

  • What did God tell Moses to do? (Lift up his staff and stretch out his hand)

  • What happened when Moses lifted up his staff and stretched out his hand at the Red Sea? (The sea parted. They were able to cross the sea on dry ground.)

  • What happened to Pharaoh and the Egyptian Army when they followed Israel across the Red Sea? (God told Moses to raise his staff and arm, and the waters covered the men, horses, and chariots.)
